India turned the second ODI in Lucknow into a series-clinching statement, beating Afghanistan by 170 runs after posting 402 all out in 49.5 overs. Shubman Gill led the innings with a fluent 154 from 110 balls, while Ishan Kishan shifted the tempo with 125 from 79.
Afghanistan had chosen to bowl first, but India controlled the game from the middle overs onward. Rohit Sharma gave the innings early speed, Gill supplied authority, Kishan brought the surge, and the bowlers later kept Afghanistan to 232/9 in 44.3 overs.
Gill's innings was controlled aggression. He reached 154 from 110 balls with 22 fours and two sixes, keeping India's tempo high without turning the innings into a reckless hitting contest.
The pressure point came at 96/2, but Gill steadied the innings and then kept Afghanistan's spinners from settling. His scoring pattern gave India the base for a total that crossed 400.
Kishan's 125 from 79 balls changed the game's speed. He hit 14 fours and seven sixes, using the crease and punishing anything short, full, or predictable.
The third-wicket stand with Gill was worth 224 in 140 balls. Afghanistan briefly had an opening after the second wicket, but the partnership closed that window and forced their attack into damage control.
India won by 170 runs and moved 2-0 ahead in the three-match ODI series.

Lucknow rewarded batters who were decisive early and bowlers who kept hitting awkward lengths later. India read those conditions better across both innings.
Afghanistan did find runs through Rahmat Shah and Sediqullah Atal, but they never had enough wickets in hand or enough boundary pressure to make 403 feel chaseable.
Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar took three wickets each, using the scoreboard as pressure. They did not need miracle balls every over; they needed discipline, pace changes and enough wicket-taking threat to stop partnerships from breathing.

Afghanistan's chase had periods of resistance, especially through Rahmat, but wickets at regular intervals kept the asking rate out of reach. Darwish Rasooli retiring hurt also interrupted the middle order's rhythm.
The 224-run Gill-Kishan stand was the decisive passage. It broke Afghanistan's field plans and made the last 15 overs about containment rather than control.
India sealed the series 2-0 and now have room to test combinations in the final ODI without losing the winning rhythm built in Lucknow.
Gill’s 154 was built on timing rather than slogging. He kept finding the rope, protected India after two wickets, and still accelerated hard enough to make 400 realistic.
Kishan’s 125 made Afghanistan defend too early. His leg-side power and clean hitting turned a strong platform into a runaway innings.
The third-wicket partnership came in only 140 balls and took the match away from Afghanistan before the death overs began.
India fell from 360/3 to 402 all out, but the total was already beyond Afghanistan’s realistic chasing range.
Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar used the scoreboard pressure well, taking three wickets each and stopping Afghanistan from building a long chase.
India's late wickets prevented an even bigger total, but the top-order damage had already shifted the match beyond Afghanistan's reach.
